Congratulations to the UCLA Bruins, winning their first ever NCAA Baseball Championship last night at the College World Series! Their 2-game sweep over the Mississippi State Bulldogs earned the championship, representing UCLA’s 109th NCAA Sports Championship, more than any other college.

Other than the opening night storm, the weather heated up but cooperated overall. The celebration of sport was tremendous and we’re thrilled for all the fans from other colleges who make the trip, experience our city and enjoy this festival of baseball. The CWS is such a strong part of the sports identity of Omaha, always inspiring to see the best from around the nation make their annual pilgrimage to the Big O and slug it out for the title.

Hyperion Integrators has been a strong and locally-owned part of the Omaha community since 1993 and it is with a lot of pride that we see the sports event landscape continue evolve and thrive here. Between the 25-year future the CWS has here in Omaha (and don’t forget the Home Run derby next week), the US Senior Open coming up July 8-14, the Team USA vs. Cuba baseball series that will be at Werner Park on July 19-20, the 2013 Visit Omaha NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship that will bring top women’s volleyball national teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean in September this summer, not to mention Omaha already hosted the 2013 US Figure Skating Championships earlier this year and secured their 3rd straight US Olympic Swim Trials for 2016.

Of course, we love our home team Champions as well – from Creighton, UNO, Nebraska to the teams like the Stormchasers, Beef and Lancers. Omaha is a great community that encourages sport and has competition as part of its lifeblood. Take in the experiences, enjoy the rest of this summer of sport at some of the unique events as well as cheering on our local sports heroes.
